Lukas is turning five tomorrow. I can’t help it, but something always happens to me the day before my kids’ birthdays. I get super emotional. I don’t think it’s going to happen this time and then BAM! Queue the waterworks.
“I love you for 100 million days.” Lukas likes to tell me this. I don’t know where he got it from but I love hearing it. Here’s a little something I wrote for my soon to be five year old.
100 Million Days
100 million days is not enough with you.
When you’ve got a mama’s heart, only eternity will do.
You woke up with a big smile and asked if you were five today.
Not yet, my sweet prince.
One more sleep and it will be your birthday.
Don’t rush my baby boy.
Let me enjoy this morning with you.
Let me breathe you in, kiss on your cheeks.
Like I always do.
Let’s take it slow, my son.
The best that we know how.
Tomorrow will surely make its way.
And you’ll be five somehow.
So let me love on you,
As I memorize your sweet face.
And pretend, once more, that we have
100 million days.
