Are you a roller or a folder?
I’ve done both. Yeah, rolling allows me to cram in as many clothes as possible, but it’s not exactly the neatest way to pack or the most organized. Folding is a neater option than rolling but it doesn’t make way for organization either.
I usually find myself rummaging through our luggages trying to find whatever shirt, pant, or miscellaneous thing the kids are needing at the moment which then results in completely destroying any kind of neatly folded clothes I originally packed in there.
When you have kids to pack for, organization suddenly becomes a priority.
Enter: The Packing Cubes!
I don’t even remember how I discovered these. I was probably browsing on Amazon and stumbled upon them somehow. You do that too, right?
I’ve been using packing cubes for a few months now and it’s made packing for myself and the kids so much easier. They come in different colors, too, so each color can be assigned to a different family member. Mine is green, Lukas’ is light blue, and Morgan’s is red. We each have a 4 pack of the small packing cubes. They also come in bigger sizes and each has a mesh top so you can easily see what’s inside. They’re so handy! You can find them here.
With my packing cubes I’m able to put an entire outfit into each one. So when we get to our hotel all I have to do is put the cubes inside the dressers and my clothes for each day are already organized and laid out for me. I love it!
With the kids’ packing cubes I’m able to put 2 outfits into each cube. For each day they have 2 designated outfits in case they need extra changing. You never know, especially with young kids, how many outfit changes they’ll need. We always bring extra just in case.
It’s such a simple idea but it really does make a big difference.
Keeping outfits together and having them separated for each day makes my mom life easier. And I’m all for anything that makes my life easier…. especially while on vacation!
Do you have any tips when it comes to packing?
