So you want to take a girls trip.
Simple enough, right? Pick a destination and GO!!! Not so quick, my friend. There are a few things to consider when planning a vacation with your girls. I’ll break it down to 3 simple tips to ensure you have the ultimate girls trip!
1. Save the date!
This may seem like a no-brainer but it really is important to get everyone to agree on the same date. The older we get, the busier our schedules become- work, kids, school, etc.
Picking out a date that everyone can agree on is the first step to get the ball rolling. Give everyone plenty of time to prepare. The more time everyone has to plan for babysitters, asking for time off from work etc., the better the chances are that everyone will be able to make it. After all, that’s the goal- to get the whole gang together!
2. What’s everyone’s budget?
Finding out what everyone’s willing to fork out for the trip will help determine a few things. 1- The duration of the trip. Obviously, the longer you’re on vacation, the more money you’ll be spending. 2- Location. How big everyone’s budget is will determine if you stay locally or fly to a more exotic destination. Driving to a nearby town and splitting the cost for gas is much cheaper than buying a round trip flight and possible car rental. 3. Lodging. Are you going to share an AirBnB or look for a 5 star resort with room service? Sticking to a budget everyone is comfortable with is key to making a successful girls trip.
3. Expectations.
Make sure everyone is on the same page when it comes to what their idea of a “girls trip” is. Do you want to spend your days relaxing by the pool with pretty cocktails? Or do you prefer to have an itinerary with daily activities? The last thing you want is for someone to be disappointed when so much effort was involved to make the trip happen; make sure there’s a little something for everyone. Most importantly, enjoy the time you have together! You never know when you’ll be able to get the whole group together again!

Girl, yaaas!! I definitely need me some girls/moms trip!! Been meaning to do this. Think I’m going to start to plan something soon (someone’s gotta start and be the planner) Thanks for the reminder 🙂
Do it! It just takes one person to get the idea started. Besides, some of us require more time to mull things over. Exciting!
Very helpful tips! Yes, the more people involved, the more variables are entered into the planning. Being clear up front about expectations will make the trip fun and doable for everyone!
Absolutely! Communication is key!
I have not done a girls trip in years. I’m thinking it’s way overdue and therefore a big one is coming. Great tips and yes now that I am older with kids planning a date is not the easiest thing to do.
Oh, my gosh. Yes, do it! This was my first girls trip since becoming a mom. It was such a feat to get us all together.

Budgeting is such a big deal and can cause so many problems if it’s not just clear from the beginning. Great tips.
I couldn’t agree more. Budgeting has such a big impact on what type of vacation it’s going to be.
These are such great tips. I love a girls trip and it definitely takes some planning to make them happen!
It really does! This one was a year in the making.
When we plan our girls trips, we choose a resort near home. We do this to maximize our travel time and start enjoying the weekend!
That is a really smart idea. I might have to implement that next time!
This is excellent. I am headed to Puerto Rico with my girlfriends in February. This will definitely help us along the way. <3
