One of the many perks of homeschooling is being able to go anywhere at any time with our kids.
Although workbooks are an option, we sometimes opt for educational apps that the kids can play with on their tablets.
Here’s a list of our favorite educational apps for kids preschool through 1st grade.
1. Endless Alphabet by Originator Kids
Both of my kids have loved playing Endless Alphabet. It’s an interactive app with cute and brightly designed monsters that help kids learn their letters and letter sounds.
2. Endless Reader by Originator Kids
Once your kids have mastered the alphabet, they can move onto Endless Reader. Endless Reader uses the same adorable monsters to teach your kids sight words. We just love this app!
Tally Tots helps kids learn their numbers 1 through 20. Each number has an interactive game for the kids to countalong to. There’s also a catchy song that I still, to this day, can sing along to. We really like this app. It’s worth the $2.99 to get it.
Splash Math is a math app that helps kids become familiar with math facts. It also allows the parent to set a schedule for the kids to follow whether it be 15 minutes of practice or 45. It also lets you choose which days of the week you’d like your child to work on this app. It’s engaging and our kids really enjoy “playing” with this one.
IXL offers lessons in math, language arts, science, and social studies. It also provides analytics to show which area your child needs more practice with. Each lesson is broken down into different parts and you can choose which lesson you want your child to engage in. We like this app because it includes all core subjects. On busy days we can get a lot of area covered with just this app alone.
There’s a lot of really good educational apps out there. These are just our top 5. What apps do you like your kids playing with?
