[…] I had the fortunate opportunity to stay here during #mommylockdown2020. [To learn more about Mommy Lockdown, click here.] […]

I first learned about Mommy Lockdown a couple of years ago when a friend of mine, Lauren Madeira, shared it on her Instagram feed. I immediately fell in love with the idea!
“Mommy Lockdown” is a term coined by Karie Robinson. It’s basically 24 hours of productive uninterrupted time.

It’s amazing what can be accomplished in 24 hours with no distractions and no disturbances. Twenty four hours to hunker down and lay out the year ahead.
It’s totally up to you what you’d like to focus on during your Mommy Lockdown. The idea is to get away for one day with the intention to focus on the year ahead. You can do it alone or go with a group of other mom friends.

Here are a few things that can be accomplished during Mommy Lockdown:
- Create a vision board of what you’d like the year to look like.
- Put into writing your intentions for the year.
- Make a list of homeschool goals for the upcoming school year or create a curriculum.
- Brainstorm blog post ideas.
- Put together a social media schedule.
- Get started on that book you’ve been wanting to write.
- Put together an action plan to help you accomplish a goal.
Twenty four hours away may seem like an unrealistic goal.
It’s hard enough trying to get even a few minutes of alone time. But, 24 hours?!
It’s possible. Trust me.
It takes a bit of planning but it can be done.
Step 1:
Book a hotel room.
I know what you’re thinking. Why do I need to pay for a hotel? I could just hole up at home in my room.
No you can’t. You’re a mom. It would take maybe 5 minutes before one of my kids started calling for me. Aside from the kids, there are just too many distractions at home to really be able to put that laser focus into action.
Step 2:
Find someone who can stay home to care for the kids.
For me, this means my Mommy Lockdown would have to take place on a weekend. My husband is usually off on the weekends which makes it the perfect opportunity for me.
Doesn’t a Mommy Lockdown sound AH-mazing?!!
I’m currently in the process of putting one together with a mom friend of mine, Hazel Blandon. The both of us can’t wait for the experience! I think there’s something magical that happens when women get together with the same intentions in mind.
