Having a clean house for the New Year is a family tradition of ours. You can read all of our New Year’s Eve traditions & superstitions here.
I don’t know where my Mom got this superstition from but my guess is that she grew up with this tradition as well. The belief is that if your home is clean when the clock strikes midnight, that your home will stay that way for the rest of the year. Did the person who made this up have any kids?
I digress.
Cleaning and tidying up our home is usually the last thing I complete in preparation for New Year’s Eve. We have 3 dogs and 2 kids so cleaning is just never ending around here. But, hey, that’s mom life for you!

This year we finally replaced our old kitchen table for a new one. We had that table for 11 years. I have to admit, I didn’t take the best care of it. It was just a plain wooden table. I didn’t hate it but I didn’t love it either.
Well, this new one we got I absolutely love. It has a lot of character and the wood has the kind of texture that gives it a rustic look. It’s a beautiful table.
See????

I actually plan on taking good care of this table. So I need to have the proper tool for the job. That’s why Scott’s Liquid Gold is my go-to cleaning product for all my wood furniture.
Scott’s Liquid Gold has been around for generations since 1951. And in case you’re wondering, yes, there was a Scott behind Scott’s Liquid Gold. You can learn more about the history of the company here.
My 2 favorite products from Scott’s Liquid Gold are the Wood Care and One Clean Home.
Wood Care is used to care for real wood. It hydrates and moisturizes to enhance the natural beauty and texture of real wood.
Here’s a photo of a before and after. Do you notice the difference? The right side has been treated while the left side has not.

It’s super easy to use, too. All you do is spray Wood Care on a lint-free cloth then spread over the wood surface.
One Clean Home is a multi-surface foaming cleaner. It can be used on all types of hard surfaces. I like to use it on our stainless steel appliances and kitchen island.
I think I’m going to try the Floor Restore next because our floors have been neglected lately and could use some help.
