I don’t know about you, but it’s just not summer without a day out on the lake. Prove me wrong.
There are a few lakes that we frequent in California and it’s something our family looks forward to each year. But we’ve never explored Bass Lake…until now.
Bass Lake is located in the Central Valley and is close to several attractions like Yosemite National Park. It’s a short 3 hour drive from Sacramento so it’s definitely a road trip that the kids can manage.

If you’re looking for a place to stay, I can’t recommend The Pines Resort enough! If you want to have easy access to the lake while having all of the resort amenities, The Pines Resort is the place to be. Also, it’s the only lakefront resort on Bass Lake. Are you sold yet? Keep reading…

Our family of 4 stayed 2 nights in one of the lakefront spa suites. It was very spacious and included a mini fridge and microwave. For details about the room, click here.
The private balcony was the first thing we noticed. We were smack dab in front of Bass Lake! Check out this view!

We also had a view of the pool which is perfect for gauging the best time to go. The pool has towel service, so there’s no need to bring down your own towels. We took a night swim on the first night. The pool is open until 10pm. Hooray!

Just steps from the resort is Bass Lake Watersports where you can rent all types of water toys- fishing boats, pontoons, jet skis, kayaks, etc. We reserved our boat the day we arrived to make sure we had one the following day. I highly suggest booking ahead of time to ensure your family has a day out on the water. You can book here.
We had so much fun out on the water!
There’s a cute area at the resort adoringly called The Pines Village. It’s in the same location as the registration office. They have a market where you can find everything from produce, ready made foods, swimsuits and more. They basically have everything you would possibly need during your vacation. If you forgot it, it’s probably here!

At the village is also a pizzeria, bakery, and bar. The kids enjoyed taking a break and relaxing under the shade with some ice cream!

There are 3 ways to dine at The Pines Resort- Ducey’s On The Lake, Ducey’s Bar & Grill and Pines Bar.
Perched above Bass Lake is Ducey’s On The Lake. We had dinner here one of the nights and it was fantastic. Although Ducey’s offers a fine dining experience, kids are very much welcomed here. The kids were each given an activity sheet with some crayons and a kids menu.

Here’s a photo dump of our food. *insert drooling emoji*
Everything we ordered was delicious. I can’t recommend the lobster crab cakes enough. I didn’t want to share a bite with my husband. You have got to order them!
We made so many new memories together as a family on our visit to The Pines Resort. As soon as we got back home, I had to tell my sisters all about it. It would be wonderful for us to bring our families here next summer and have one BIG family vacation. We can’t wait to visit again!
