I recently went on a momcation with a couple of my closest girlfriends. If you’ve never heard of a “momcation,” it’s a vacation free of motherly (and wifely) duties. A break!
I couldn’t think of a better place to have a much needed break than at el PRADO Hotel in downtown Palo Alto. If you recall, my daughter and I had a Galentine’s weekend here back in February. There’s been a new addition to the hotel and it is fabulous!
Before we get into that, let me tell you about our accommodations. We stayed in a King Suite complete with its own separate living room. It was beautifully appointed and can fit up to 4 adults. There were plenty of mirrors and we were all able to get ready in the large bathroom.
For dinner, we went to the newly opened tapas bar located on the 2nd floor. It’s super swanky and had lots of seating. Make sure to peruse around the 2nd floor; you’ll be surprised by all the little hidden nooks and crannies.
Let’s talk about the food- the tapas!
Tapas: small amounts of Spanish food that are served, especially with alcoholic drinks, in Spanish bars and restaurants.

We were lucky enough to sample everything on the menu. Just thinking about it now makes my mouth water. I mean, take a look at our spread.

Every dish that was brought out was beautifully presented and equally as tasty! Our favorites were the sliders, shishito peppers, croquettes and, of course, the charcuterie board.
Spanish and local wines along with signature cocktails are also available to order. I had the Fresas del Prado and Agua de Valencia. Check out the entire Signature Cocktail menu, here.
We enjoyed our time at the bar laughing, talking, drinking and eating. There’s just something fun about shared plates with friends. It was a great night for our momcation. After dinner, we headed back to our room, got in our jammies and stayed up way past our bed time!
The next day, we headed back to our families refreshed and ready to tackle motherhood once again.
Special thanks to el PRADO staff, especially Abby and Janelle, for taking such good care of us during our visit.
Stay tuned for my next momcation story coming in December!
