Our next staycation experience brings us to San Jose, California.
San Jose is the heart of Silicon Valley and is a short 2 hour drive from Sacramento. It’s funny to think that it’s been 20+ years since I’ve been to San Jose! It’s so close so it really makes no sense why I’ve waited this long. Kids. I blame the kids.
We had the opportunity to explore San Jose this past weekend and it was such a thrill to explore this part of California together as a family.
I’ll be sharing things to do with kids in San Jose in a follow-up post. For now I want to share with you where we stayed and why this property is a fantastic option for families.
Why you should stay here-
Hotel Valencia is located smack dab in the middle of Santana Row. As the only hotel on this world-class destination, you get front row seats to all the premier shops, restaurant and entertainment. Did I mention people watching? You can’t beat Hotel Valencia’s location for observing the other visitors that walk by. We spent a good amount of time enjoying the sights and sounds of Santana Row from our balcony.
2. Clean & Safe
More than ever, especially during these strange times we live in, cleanliness and safety have become top priority. Hotel Valencia takes the well being of their guests and associates seriously and have implemented guidelines to ensure the health and safety of their guests. 3. Spacious Suites For Families
Hotel Valencia offers 215 guest rooms and suites. We stayed in the one-bedroom Executive Suite and had plenty of space for everyone in the family. The separate dining area was a nice surprise. We were able to grab food and eat properly around the table. The large sized balcony was nicely furnished allowing us to lounge comfortably. See a tour of the room below.
Hotel Valencia has an outdoor rooftop pool. It was closed during our visit but this would be a fun amenity for the kids. We had a view of it from our room and it was beautiful. Check the hotel’s website to confirm its reopening.
Breakfast comes complimentary with your stay. Hotel Valencia has a grab-and-go option allowing guests to choose items they’d like to bring back to their room or enjoy in the courtyard. The blueberry muffins were exquisitely made. You have to try them!
6. On-Site Restaurant
It’s always a bonus when a hotel has an on-site restaurant. Oveja Negra is located on the third floor and offers outdoor dining in an open air courtyard. The signature dish, Braised Beef Cheeks, is a must try! They also have a children’s menu to satisfy the little ones.
7. 24 Hour Room Service
Kids. Always. Want. Snacks. 24-hour room service is a welcomed convenience when traveling with children. There’s no need to get everyone dressed and ready to go when a simple call can summon a quick bite to eat.
Things sure do change in 20 years! Hotel Valencia has reignited my love for San Jose. I was so impressed by our experience here. The staff was friendly and accommodating. We couldn’t have picked a better place to stay in San Jose!
Hotel Valencia hosted our visit. All opinions are my own.

There’s been a lot of firsts for many of us this year. I can name 2 right off the top of my head. During the first month of quarantine, I learned how to make boba from scratch. And, thanks to Tik Tok, I also...
We could all splurge on ourselves this year. It’s our reward for making it through 2020. Am I right? Everything listed here is either something I own or WISH I owned*. I started compiling the list early in the year. If I stumbled on...
In partnership with Cadence Kitchen. I love making home cooked meals. Love it. There’s nothing quite like gathering all the ingredients and creating a scrumptious meal for the family. I grew up in a household where my mom cooked most of our dinners. Eating...
