It’s that time of the year!
School is about to start in a few weeks and you either 1- have been prepping for months and you’ve got everything ready! Or 2- you’re still gathering supplies and haven’t decided on curriculum. If you’re like me, you’re somewhere in between and I’m completely satisfied with where I’m at. We take a relaxed approach and usually piece things together as we go along.
I thought I’d share with you one of my favorite items for homeschool organization. It’s such a simple little tool but it helps me tremendously! Keep in mind I have a kindergartener and first grader so things are still pretty simple around here. We like to keep it fun and easy.
Introducing….The Cascading Wall Organizer! Isn’t it colorful?!
We hang ours behind the door in my office. It’s easy to reach and quick to grab what we need for the day. Major bonus points: It takes up no space at all! This handy little thing makes my life soooo much easier!
The idea is to label each folder with the days of the week. As you see in the pic, ours is labeled Monday through Friday. But you can designate whatever label you wish. Maybe you’ll want your folders labeled by subjects? It’s entirely up to you and how you plan out your days.
On the weekends, I fill each folder with whatever the kids will be working on for the following week. So, for Monday’s folder I might put a worksheet for each child and a blank piece of paper for them to draw on. We aren’t big on doing seat work, so oftentimes what I put in each folder isn’t necessarily a worksheet but a list of activities we’d like to accomplish.
There are 6 pockets with folders and 1 clear pocket. The first pocket at the very bottom is used to keep our daily work which, for us, is handwriting. If more pockets would work better for your homeschool, there’s also a 10 pocket organizer.
That’s it. Easy peasy! The whole week is laid out for me. All I have to do is grab out of each folder what we’re going to do for the day. You can grab one of these hanging folders here.
